Richard “Ricky” Sirgany Jr., born on May 29, 1959, carries with him the rich heritage of his Jamaican and Lebanese roots. Moving to the United States at the age of nine, Ricky quickly discovered a passion for the arts that would become a lifelong source of expression, resilience, and joy.

His artistic journey began in high school, where he found an instinctive love for photography. With no formal training but a natural eye for beauty, Ricky earned a photography scholarship to Miami Dade South University. From city streets to sweeping landscapes, from striking architecture to candid portraits, his lens captured the world without limits, always searching for light, texture, and soul.

In 1986, Ricky returned to Jamaica with his wife, Nicola, to build a life together. As co-owner and Director of Production at Jamaica Fiberglass Products Ltd., he poured his creativity into design and innovation. The company flourished, producing work for restaurants, hotels, and government contracts. Through this chapter, Ricky became known for his meticulous attention to detail and commitment to quality—a hallmark that would later define his art.

Life took an unexpected turn in 2013 when Ricky was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS), followed just months later by Chronic Lymphoid Leukemia (CLL). What could have been a devastating chapter instead became a rebirth. Anchored by faith and driven by a need for healing, Ricky found his way back to art—this time through painting. The canvas became his sanctuary, a place to release the weight of illness and transform struggle into beauty.

His first painting, “Moving Forward”—a red Ferrari inspired by childhood summers in his father’s automotive garage, Auto Volante —symbolizes both his love of cars and his determination to persevere. That piece, still part of his private collection, marked the beginning of a new creative journey.

Since then, Ricky has developed a diverse body of work ranging from vintage cars and rustic Jamaican sceneries to vibrant seaside landscapes, flora, and portraits. Each piece reflects not only his artistic evolution but also his resilience, optimism, and deep connection to everyday life. He continues to challenge himself with new subjects, believing that art should inspire joy and remind us of life’s beauty, even in the face of adversity.

Today, Ricky’s art hangs on the walls of homes where it brings light and happiness to others. For him, this is the greatest reward: knowing that his work touches hearts, uplifts spirits, and celebrates the strength to move forward—no matter what challenges life may bring.
