There’s something mysterious and peaceful about the meeting point between sea and shore — a place where stories begin and end. Tidebound was inspired by that quiet, in-between world, where the waves whisper secrets and imagination takes flight. In this piece, a mermaid rests on the sand, gazing toward the horizon as the tide gently drifts in and out.

For me, this painting is about longing and reflection — that feeling of being caught between two worlds, the familiar and the unknown. The mermaid, with her back turned to the viewer, represents both freedom and solitude. She’s part of the ocean, yet drawn to the warmth of the land. There’s a quiet strength in her stillness, as if she’s deciding whether to stay or return to the depths.
